C. R. Onsrud Commercial Inverted Pin Router, Model 2003

 

The Onsrud Inverted Router has become the standard replacement for the conventional overhead router and was new when purchased by the original owner.  An Inverted Router is simply more versatile, more accurate, safer and easier to operate.  The added flexibility and improved performance alone made the Inverted Router the obvious choice for anyone who has ever used one.

 

This machine uses templates to precisely duplicate all types of complex wood shapes, internal cut outs, slotting, hole boring, mortise cuts, Victorian trim, and shaping.  The air controlled plunger pin follows pre-made templates to produce exact duplication.  A sample part can be reproduced by tracing the sample with the overhead guide pin on a direct one-to-one ratio, or offset the pin to cutter diameter to increase or decrease the part size.  

 

The exhaust system is chambered through the table grill to the rear of the machine for connection to a plant dust collection system or standard shop vacuum. The sawdust is removed so the cutter is constantly cutting new wood instead of re-cutting the sawdust.  This allows you to maintain faster feed rates and keeps cutters sharp longer.  It also helps yield better finishes, requiring less sanding. 

 

The Model  2003 is more versatile than conventional table routers.  The solid cast iron base provides a stable, much safer mounting.  The cutter is below the table when not cutting.  It allows plunge work and keeps chips out of the motor for greatly increased life.  This is an industrial machine that can handle anything from production to the weekend hobbyist and in excellent condition.  The original owner purchased this machine brand new and now it’s up for sale...new ones are $3300.00.

●                      Upper and Lower Depth Stop - Infinitely adjustable through entire range of spindle travel adjustment from 0 - 2-1/2".   Collet: ½" shank.

●                      Three Position Turret Depth Stop: This allows three preset cutting heights with the simple movement of a lever.  This is particularly helpful when cutting very thick material that must be cut in two passes, or while cutting at several different levels on the same part.

●                      Foot Pedal Lock: The flip of a switch locks the spindle in an UP position for shaping work and is also especially handy when routing very large parts.  (Frees operator to step back from machine to a more comfortable feed position.)
